Homeopathy Vs Felicia Day

Homeopathy is an… interesting concept. People either swear by it or think it’s complete tosh. When I was younger, I used to be in the first group; now I’m completely in the second group. It is scientifically impossible for it to work, and any effect it does have on people is due to the placebo effect.

The basic premise behind homeopathy is that like cures like, and that the the more dilute the solution, the more effective it is. Using serial dilution, homeopaths reduce the amount of active ingredient so much that it’s unlikely that even a single molecule is present in the final preparation. They maintain that water has memory, and thus, despite the massive serial dilution the preparation undergoes, water “remembers” what the active ingredient was, resulting in a final solution that works. Like I said at the start… interesting :-/

There is a lot of information about homeopathy and arguments (for and) against it, and included here are a few of my recent favourites. The first is entitled “Putting Homeopathy Into Perspective“, and explains the concept behind the serial dilutions, using Felicia Day (wiki) as an example. I found it highly amusing, plus it enabled me to post the awesome picture above! There is also the Homeopathy Vs Science – A Metaphor, which amused me as well. Finally, we come to the amazing website http://www.howdoeshomeopathywork.com/, which provides an in-depth analyses of how homeopathy works.

Remember, homeopathy: there’s nothing in it. Also, Felicia Day needs a new thong. Onwards!
