I love night shots of the Earth taken from space, and the one shown here (credit to ESA / NASA), depicting the UK as seen from the ISS, is gorgeous. As well as seeing the UK lit up, like cancer cells invading healthy tissue, the curvature of the Earth and the distant stars beyond can also be seen. It’s really incredible.
ESA / NASA has released some truly amazing photos recently. The shot of the UK here is one example, and another is the stunning picture of the Space Shuttle Endeavour docked with the ISS (a high res picture of it can be found here). So impressive, so beautiful, and so serenely magnificent.
