The New York Times – 2011: The Year In Pictures

2011 is nearly over, and what an eventful year it has been. Pictures can convey far more than a block of text, so this week will be dedicated to some of the most memorable pictures and events of 2011.

To start us off, The New York Times has an excellent gallery of the most important events of 2011, split into separate categories: Arab Spring; Occupy; Nature; The World; The Nation; and Milestones.

All the images are spectacular, with the final image, that of the Space Shuttle Atlantis landing and thereby ending NASA’s 30-year shuttle programme, being especially profound for me.

Here’s to the images of 2012. Onwards!
