BuzzFeed has a collection of 33 stunning photos of our amazing planet Earth taken by a guy in space…
And they are truly stunning. What makes them even more impressive is that the photographer, astronaut André Kuipers, has taken them with his own personal camera whilst aboard the ISS.
Perhaps my favourite of the bunch is the shot shown here. Kuipers’ description of it is: “Sahara sand treks hundreds of kilometres across the Atlantic Ocean“. You can really see the sand trails blowing across the water. I wonder if it’s a unique view you get from space, or whether it’s possible to observe these sand trails from below.
It’s not quite as good as my favourite photo from space, but it’s still mightily impressive. Onwards!
