BuzzFeed have “A moving collection of iconic photographs from the last 100 years that demonstrate the heartbreak of loss, the tremendous power of loyalty, and the triumph of the human spirit. ”
The 40 photographs on display really are iconic and powerful. I recognise a fair few of them, whilst some are new to me. Number 31, showing an alternative view of Tank Man in Tienanmen Square, is new to me, and is an absolutely amazing image. It makes his act of defiance even more poignant.
My favourite image though is the one displayed here: “Earthrise: A photo taken by astronaut William Anders during the Apollo 8 mission in 1968.” This image was the first time the Earth was seen from “above”, as it were. Imagine the thrill and wonder at being on the moon and seeing this view! Absolutely breathtaking.
