Space 2012

Venus Transit2012 has seen a plethora of science pictures of and from space, and they are truly jaw dropping.

Starting with the BBC, they have a few images of 2012 as seen from space. These include the capsized cruise ship Costa Concordia, the descent of Curiosity, and superstorm Sandy.

Following on from this, National Geographic have an editor’s pick of their best space pictures of 2012. These range from images of nebulae to auroras to planets to stars, and they are brilliant pictures.

Finally, we have the ever amazing Phil Plait and his Bad Astronomy over at Slate (image above from there) with his best astronomy images of 2012. Now these… these are incredible. He has put high definition images of the iconic events that have occurred during 2012: sun storms; the transit of Venus; Mars Curiosity; Saturn‘s stormy eye; nebulae and stars; auroras and the Milky Way; and rockets and telescopes. A wide range of truly remarkable images.

The wonders of 2013 await. Onwards!
