The human body is brilliant. Over at The Guardian, they have a great collection of 20 amazing facts about the human body. These range from the atoms within us to whole organs to invasive organisms.
The facts I love the most are to do with atoms and invasions. It’s fantastic that an average adult human body is made up of 7 octillion atoms, which are composed of mostly empty space, and each atom is billions of years old.
We have at least eight retroviruses in our DNA, and on sheer cell count, we are composed of mainly bacteria. Even more worrying / amazing, a fair few of us will have eyelash mites. Hmm, tasty.
Which is your favourite fact about the human body? Onwards!
