Brown Eyes / Blue Eyes Racism Experiment

The brown eyes / blue eyes racism experiment is a powerful social exercise by Jane Elliott, teaching people about discrimination and racism. Instead of mentioning skin colour, she talks about eye colour, how blue eyed people are better than brown eyed people, or vice versa. It’s interesting to see how quickly the kids adopt their roles as either superior or inferior, depending on eye colour.

It’s amazing how racism still exists in today’s world. Hopefully more people will see this and learn from it. Onwards!

Also, check out below the break for a couple more videos, teaching students about discrimination. It’s quite tough and harsh to watch at times, but some excellent points are made in it, especially about freedom.
