Astronomy Photographer Of The Year 2013

The winners of the Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2013 were recently announced, and the pictures are incredible. The overall winning picture is shown above. Titled “Guiding Light to the Stars”, this image by Mark Gee is truly spectacular. Not only did he win this, he also came first in the People and Space category, with his amazing Full Moon Silhouettes picture.

Over at the BBC, they have a collection of the photographs with some insight by the judges as to why they chose the images they did. Well worth checking out.

Which is your favourite image? Onwards!
