Tim Minchin – Occasional Address

Tim Minchin, the former UWA arts student described as “sublimely talented, witty, smart and unabashedly offensive” in a musical career that has taken the world by storm, is awarded an honorary doctorate by The University of Western Australia.” (YouTube)

Tim Minchin gives a wonderful speech in the above video, and it’s well worth watching. The entire transcript can be found over on Tim’s website. He gives 9 very valid points of how to proceed in life: you don’t have to have a dream; don’t seek happiness; remember, it’s all luck; exercise; be hard on your opinions; be a teacher; define yourself by what you love; respect people with less power than you; and don’t rush.

It’s an incredibly exciting thing, this one, meaningless life of yours. Good luck.” Onwards!
