OneZoom Tree Of Life

Exploring the evolutionary tree of life is now as easy as navigating an online map, thanks to a new interactive website.” (YouTube)

That new interactive website is OneZoom. The above video introduces OneZoom, and what it is all about. It’s basically an interactive, zoomable, evolutionary tree of life, shown as a wonderful fractal. There’s a wealth of information contained at each zoom level, and it’s very easy to lose yourself exploring within its depths. There’s also links to wiki, giving even more information.

I find the description of Homo sapiens both amusing and kind of depressing. Conservation status: Least Concern. Population increasing. Ho hum. Ten points if you can find humans on the tree of life in less than 10 seconds. Onwards!
