Wanderers is a vision of humanity’s expansion into the Solar System, based on scientific ideas and concepts of what our future in space might look like, if it ever happens. The locations depicted in the film are digital recreations of actual places in the Solar System, built from real photos and map data where available.
Without any apparent story, other than what you may fill in by yourself, the idea of the film is primarily to show a glimpse of the fantastic and beautiful nature that surrounds us on our neighbouring worlds – and above all, how it might appear to us if we were there.” (Vimeo)

Wanderers is a truly phenomenal short film created by Erik Wernquist. The stunning visuals of the planets in our Solar System are accompanied by the words of master poet Carl Sagan. We see a sunset on Mars, people floating above Jupiter and Saturn, the colonisation of comets and moons… all potentially possible for us to achieve. Phil Plait over at Slate and Mika McKinnon at io9 both have articles gushing over this video, and rightly so. The beauty of it coupled with scientific accuracy and pure hope and optimism make this a difficult video to ignore.

Watch, share, and fall in love with space exploration all over again. Onwards!
