“High plains storms are some of the most beautiful and wild in the world. I spent May – September 2014 photographing all types of severe weather in Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Colorado. This time lapse project is a result of that effort. From rainbows to tornadoes, there is a little bit of everything in here.” (Vimeo)
Stormscapes 2 by Nicolaus Wegner is a sublime piece of work. Nicolaus, storm chaser extraordinaire, has managed to capture the raw beauty and power of storms, and edited it together with a great score into a fantastic video. It’s breathtaking to behold, to see the clouds form into storms, and then see them at their full destructive potential (warning: lots of lightning flashes!).
Perhaps my favourite shot occurs at 3:42, where the Milky Way galaxy is briefly visible before an advancing storm engulfs the skies. It’s a truly tremendous piece of work. Onwards!
