The answer to this is finally YES! Today is Back to the Future day! Great Scott!
The Back to the Future trilogy is an amazing set of films, and if you haven’t seen them, you’re missing out. What’s special about October 21st 2015 though, is that today is the day that Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel forward to from 1985.
Many predictions about the future were made at that time, some more accurate than others. Today being a special day, people are talking about the technology shown in Back to the Future II, and how it compares to our current technology.
The Guardian starts us off with a look at what regulation means for the tech and brands the film forecasted. National Geographic talks about four elements of the film (hoverboards, flying cars, robot gas attendants, and fuelling your car with waste), and how far along we’ve currently got with each of them. The Conversation does something similar, and talks about fashion, the home of tomorrow, hoverboards, and trash as fuel, whilst New Scientist delves into the physics of time travel. Finally, we have a video (below the break) by Maddie Moate on Science Faction: Back to the Future II, in which she talks about some of the technology of the film.
Welcome to the future. Onwards!
